LANE4 Property Group has officially kicked off the extensive remodel and renovation of the Red Bridge Shopping Center. “We are excited to update and remodel the property to a level that befits the surrounding quality neighborhoods and schools.” said LANE4 Vice President Brandon Buckley. “It’s long overdue. Our objective is to bring it back to its glory days when it was the staple of the neighborhood, and all of South Kansas City for that matter.”
New tenants announced includes Euston Hardware, which is taking a 15,000 square space in addition to an equipment rental and garden center area; Blue Bicycle Fitness Center, a 12,000-square-foot fitness center including personal training and yoga; and Sofi Cucina Italiana Restaurant, a new concept in the 5,000-square-foot former Bruce Smith Drug Store.
Renovations are expected to be complete by October 1. Centric Projects is at work on an extensive overhaul of the facade, which features coastal-inspired architecture and two large tower elements that will open, bringing natural light into the key corner restaurant spaces.Generator Studio will provide architectural services. The trio of companies — LANE4, Centric Projects and Generator Studio — previously teamed up in 2011 for the renovation of Corinth Square in Prairie Village, another J.C. Nichols’ development.
The center, developed by J.C. Nichols Company in the 1950s, consists of 150,000 square feet of retail space and is anchored by Lipari’s Sun Fresh Grocery Market. Since LANE4 purchased the center 6 months ago, it has secured leases and commitments for more than a third of the existing vacant space. More tenant announcements are expected in the near future.
“Red Bridge will be safe, clean, beautiful, cool and convenient,” Buckley said. “All of these elements are essentially not only for the retailers, but the overall vibrancy of the surrounding neighborhoods.”
